Highlights from Greenbuild 2024:

  • In addition to our increased knowledge about the sustainable innovations and new products that are in the market place, DMG is networking with global experts and leader in design and building better environments.
  • Innovative Sustainable Concrete Additives: We explored new concrete additives made from algae and recycled plastic, significantly enhancing the sustainability of concrete. These innovations promise to reduce the carbon footprint of construction materials and promote circular economies.
  • Advanced Air Cleaning Technologies: Cutting-edge air purification systems that safely remove mold, viruses, and bacteria were showcased. Implementing these technologies is crucial for creating healthier indoor environments, especially in the wake of global health concerns.
  • Advancements in Mass Timber Construction: The conference highlighted the latest in mass timber construction, allowing for the creation of beautiful, low-carbon buildings. Mass timber offers a renewable alternative to traditional materials, reducing environmental impact without compromising design.
  • PHIUS Passive Building Techniques and Certification: We gained insights into Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) techniques and certification processes. These methods emphasize energy efficiency and occupant comfort, aligning with our goals for high-performance buildings.
  • Introduction to LEED Version 5: The upcoming LEED v5 was introduced, outlining new standards and practices for sustainable building certification. Staying updated with these changes ensures our projects meet the highest sustainability benchmarks.
  • Circular Water Use Innovations: Discussions on circular water use included recovery and treatment systems that promote water conservation. These systems are integral for sustainable water management in modern projects.
  • Decarbonization of Hotels: Strategies were presented for creating zero-emission, 100% electric hospitality establishments. This approach is a significant step toward reducing the carbon footprint of the tourism and hospitality industry.
  • PERFORM Sustainability Management Tool: The new PERFORM tool was introduced to assess and manage the sustainability portfolios of buildings effectively. This will enhance owners and developers ability to monitor and improve the environmental performance of all their properties.
  • Sustainable Finance Strategies: Sessions on sustainable finance provided insights into funding green building projects. Understanding these financial models is essential for implementing cost-effective sustainability initiatives.
  • Reusing and Repurposing Existing Buildings: We explored strategies to reuse and repurpose existing structures while improving their performance. This not only conserves resources but also preserves cultural heritage.
